HilFamCo

HilFamCo was established in the 1980s by Wayne Hilton, my dad. For the next 40 years he, and the rest of the family, ran restaurants, cafeterias, and school food service programs, primarily in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, but with clients all over the United States

I was involved from the very beginning on the software side of things, starting by writing Inventory Control and management programs, and ultimately coding, with my brother Bryan, DineRite - a suite of software designed to run a private school cafeteria system. From food ordering, menu preparatioin, student debit card management with full parental control, DineRite grew from a simple DOS/Basic program to a fully online program accessible from anywhere in the world.

Covid took Dad from us, and ultimately lead to the closing of DineRite, but the memories and lessons learn live on. We've resurrected the HilFamCo name both to honor Dad, and to express a range of the projects, activities and interests I continue to dabble in.

Rather than spending my time on a fancy CMS/WordPress site, I've opted to concentrate on the content - the programs, games and ideas which I find interesting, maybe important, and at the very least intriguing. Poke around, and you might find something that suits your fancy.

Collatz

The COLLATZ CONJECTURE has been called "The Most Dangerous Problem in Mathematics" because it has lead many a mathematician to spend lifetimes trying to prove it. It has remained unproven, until NOW (I think). My book (see links) is an attempt to show a proof that is both Mathematically correct, but also easy to understand. The COLLATZ Section of this site has various programs I used in devloping my Proof.

RoPaSci

For nearly 50 years, I have been developing a gaming system which relies on the mechanics of the oldest game knonw to man - ROck,PAper, SCIssors with an extra Rank WAter, as well as the addtion of SUITS (Red, Blue, Green and Black). The system is complex in its design, but easy to grasp and play. The RoPaSci Section has lots of games, and a complete set of Books detailing the entire eco-system.

UGL

The Ultimate Game of Life. Based on the John Conway's famous cellular automaton "GAME OF LIFE". I'd recommend looking at the original before tackling my take on it. I've added "Protected" cells, "Infected" cells, and dozens of keyboard shortcuts and pre-defined "boards" to make the game both (in my opinion at least) more interesting and more interactive

MUSIC

And, of course, where would I be without my Music. My undergrad and graduate degrees are in music, both performance and composition, and I have a huge back-catalogue of songs, operas, musicals and such ranging in style from pop to country and classical with a smattering of religious stuff thrown into the mix. This is the most dynamic section of the site, as it will continue to grow as I finish scoring and sometimes recording more pieces.

ENIGMA Music Machine

Combining almost all of my various interests, the ENIGMA Music Machine is a web-based music composition and performance system which uses generative algorithms, user input, and a variety of musical styles to create unique pieces of music on the fly. It's still in development, but you can check out the current version in the ENIGMA Section.

The Navigation Bar below will help guide you to the various sections, and, if all goes well, back
